BIO.
Jose Quintanilla. Yecla (Murcia) 1963
Visual artist living and working in Madrid.
He studied Art Direction at CEV in Madrid.
A self-taught photographer, he has attended numerous workshops with international photographers and artists.
Master PHotoEspaña 20/21 in Photography. Theory and artistic projects.
He recently received the PHotoEspaña 2025 Special Mention in the Fundación ENAIRE Photography Awards, an award he also won in 2021, and second prize in the fourth edition of the Fundación Ankaria International 21st Century Photography Award.
Statement.
His work focuses on landscape and memory, the degradation of the environment by human action, and the spiritual search through nature. The supposed veracity of what is photographed, such as ruins and abandoned spaces, the basis of a tailored story, the passage of time, and the ephemerality of life, are some of his lines of research.
His latest works delve into new avenues of graphic expression, exploring the limits of photography and reproduction techniques, seeking pictorial movements and resources that connect with the more plastic side of his early career as an artist.
