Annette Schock
BIO & STATEMENT
Annette Schock offers a mysterious look at animals, as both an embodiment and a symbol of the irresponsibility of our paradoxical times. They are primarily food animals, which often survive in appalling conditions, as is the case on farms where, after the pleasant Alpine summer, the harsh winter and the sadness of the stabled animal arrive. "The Three Graces" are perhaps the symbol: three of Annette's friends, beautiful Austrian cows whose personalities the artist knows and explains in detail: "They deserve to be portrayed," our creator concludes.
Annette Schock is an extraordinary and tireless draftsman, mastering the use of charcoal on both paper and canvas, frequently adding acrylic paint. As already mentioned, her drawings occupy ("invade," we could say) her studios between Germany and Madrid, like preparatory notes that compose large mosaics that will serve as a source of study.
In this way, the great paintings will grow, emerging after an exhaustive analysis and careful selection of the stages of the sketches, sometimes also using photography in the process prior to drawing and, in some way, this complex exercise is the starting point of his look at these flesh(s).
To the point? Bleeding? Please, the table is set.
