“Geometry est Imago XLVIII” is a painting made with graphite, pastel chalk and piano strings on canvas, glued onto wood.
The piece is part of an investigation centered around the human being, taking into account concepts such as bodily expression and the importance of drawing, which in this piece's case is a crossroads of two types of drawings that coexist on the same surface. One gives shape to the character, and the other floats above it through an intervention of controlled steel cords anchored to the board.
In these portrait studies, I don't speak of a particular entity, but rather a universal one. The references are people I know, or people who move through the urban space where I also move; they are the starting point upon which I base other reflections or speculations.
And from that space I refer to, I also take into account the geometry existing in those structures and elements that determine limits and configure spaces, a geometry that ultimately envelops or surrounds everyone who passes through those spaces.
