“SENSITIVE BEASTS”: it is not a contradiction; it is a declaration.

Like Lewis Carroll’s Alice, stepping through the looking-glass into the unknown, Palito Dominguín’s work invites us to delve into a territory where intuition, memory, and freedom displace any academic rigidity.

Trained in Fine Arts at the prestigious Arts University Bournemouth, her journey does not deny the learned discipline or technical knowledge; however, her practice consciously positions itself beyond them. In her pictorial language, academia appears as a starting point, but never as a limit. Dominguín understands creation as a deeply free act, where gesture, emotion, and even error hold as much weight as learned technique. In this sense, her work dialogues with a tradition of artists who have made lived experience their true field of investigation, where the biographical becomes aesthetic material.

Without detracting from the important men in her life, a very powerful female genealogy inhabits the core of her creative universe. The women in her family not only represent an origin but a living structure of thought, sensibility, and transmission. They are generators of life, but also of imaginary worlds, stories, and ways of seeing. In each of them lies a way of understanding the world where the everyday is charged with meaning and where intuition becomes a legitimate form of knowledge.

This heritage is materialized particularly clearly in her work Las Moiras (The Fates), where threads become a central metaphor. Like the mythological figures who weave, measure, and cut destiny, Dominguín intertwines past and present in a web that is not linear, but organic. Every stroke, every texture, every superposition refers to this idea of continuity: family history as a constantly evolving fabric. In this framework, memory is not static, but a flow that is rewritten and re-signified in each of her works.

In Sensitive Beasts, the title that articulates this exhibition, a deeply contemporary tension emerges: the coexistence between the instinctive and the delicate, between the wild and the vulnerable. At this point, her imagery finds resonances with the universe of Tim Burton, where the strange is not presented as a threat, but as a refuge. As in his narratives, figures that might seem alien or even unsettling reveal, in reality, a profound emotional charge. Dominguín's "beasts" are not ferocious creatures, but sensitive entities, traversed by memory, fragility, and the desire to belong.

Far from contemporary noise and saturation, her work proposes a pause: a moment to stop and observe what often goes unnoticed — the invisible bonds, emotional inheritances, shared silences. In this sense, her practice approaches a poetics of the essential, where excess dissolves and a more intimate and conscious form of sensibility emerges.

Thus, Palito Dominguín's work presents itself as a space of gentle resistance: a place where creative freedom prevails over norms, where memory becomes living matter, and where the invisible threads that constitute us finally find a way to become visible. And, as in universes where the strange becomes beautiful, we understand that, perhaps, it is precisely in that sensibility —untamed and vulnerable at the same time— where our most honest way of being in the world resides.
