David Delgado Ruiz

I've been taking photographs for as long as I can remember, and I can't remember being without a camera in my hand.

We remember moving frames, not movies.

I recognize myself as always seeking to understand the perception of the passage of time. From the desire to tell a story, I aim to document how modern societies are structured around the organization of time, interacting in the lives of individuals who make up the different social groups in each town, city, community, or nation.

I develop my work along three lines of research: Documentary Photography, Contextualized Portraiture, and what I call Intervened Reality.

BIO & STATEMENT.

David Delgado Ruiz. Madrid, 1975

Since I was a child I remember thinking about the perception of time.

I have always been curious to observe the movement that takes place in those moments that can seem eternal or, on the contrary, pass by in a flash.

It was this reflection that led me to find in photography the means to create, through images, the story of the moment lived.

I document contemporary reality, telling stories about how time and space generate a context for social relationships between human beings and the hostile environment that surrounds them—the city understood as present, past, and future.

The line I work on as "Intervened Reality" is where I develop the geometric symmetries between the different spaces I inhabit and investigate from emptiness and stillness, thereby creating a new fictional reality.
