Collection of heliogravures by the artist Arnold Böcklin.

He was born in 1827, died in 1901, and enjoyed fame and recognition during his lifetime, overshadowing the avant-garde movements of Paris, but later fell into absurd oblivion until being vindicated by the surrealists.

Born in Basel, Arnold Böcklin's work combines romantic and realist elements, evolving from romanticism to naturalism, although his best works were produced from a symbolist perspective. He is one of the key Swiss figures of this movement that emerged in the last third of the 19th century as a reaction to impressionism and post-impressionism.
