Annita Klimt presents "Women Who Cut and Paste"

Women who cut and paste

The art and trends blog godArt Lab is organizing a meeting/exhibition of female collagists in Madrid at the Espíritu23 Coworking Space in the Malasaña neighborhood . Next Friday, June 9th , between 7 and 10 pm, twenty artists will be in charge of performing the most current cut and paste for a few hours:

Beatriz Alarcia, annitaklimt, Lucía Berra (Lucybelop), Isabel Chiara, Beatriz Dubois, María Errehache, Adriana M. Gurumeta, Ana Lorente (Tijeras y Poemas), Marisa Maestre, Maria Salan ( Niñapajaro ) , Sonia Otero (Nolavola), Maite Ortega, Marta de los Pájaros, Helena Pallarés, Pigeon Pérez, Marta Quijano, Carmen Reig (cr8colla ge), Natalia Romay, Sol Salama and Silvia Vaqueriza (sil_cuts) .

It all started with an article that godArt Lab published on March 8th , marking International Women's Day , which compiled the work of artists currently using collage as a means of expression . From those who create using the traditional method—with glue , paper (cardboard, wood, fabric, etc.) and scissors ( box cutters are also available)—to those who prefer to create using a computer. This "cut and paste" technique has been used continuously since its emergence in art history over 100 years ago. It's a revolutionary way of transforming reality, changing the initial meaning of an image, seeking the poetics of the visual, taking advantage of accessible media, the few elements needed to create it, and the use and recycling of seemingly useless, disposable materials.

A meeting that will feature collage, video projections, music and craft beers from Nómada Brewing , award-winning artists at festivals around the world, who use collage as an image in their latest creations .
